Miners on the network are also reaping significant rewards.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Data from <a href=\"https:\/\/etherscan.io\/topstat#Mining\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Etherscan.io<\/a> shows that the top five Ethereum mining pools cumulatively earned 77,450 ETH in rewards or $192.69 million over the last seven days between July 27 and August 2, 2021. Over the same period, the miners using the pools mined a total of 29,021 blocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ethermine.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Ethermine pool (opens in a new tab)\">Ethermine pool<\/a> recorded the highest rewards at 28,239 ETH, mining 10,615 blocks, followed by Spark Pool with 23,276 ETH in rewards from 8,684 blocks. This indicates that the demand for Ethereum is on the rise, with mining pools playing a key role in meeting the demand.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notably, the nature of the Ethermine pool contributes to the high rewards earned by the pool. Typically, the pool charges a flat 1%. It doesn&#8217;t charge miners the transaction fees upon payment. Instead, Ethermine mines the transactions on their blocks in return lowering the block\u2019s efficiency and overall rewards, a model that is mainly suitable for small-scale miners.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The future of ETH mining rewards amid upgrades&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The mining rewards are potentially a reflection of the upgrades on the Ethereum network. Therefore, mining pools will likely experience reduced rewards once the upgrade takes effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the shift to ETH 2.0 occurs, there will be no block subsidies and transaction fees.
